Question Considerations as a single parent

As a single parent in the dating scene what factors are you looking for in a potiental mate? Obviously your child is first and foremost but do you date someone that is a match for you more than you child or do you sacrifice some captibility for someone that would be better for your child? Do those things change depending on the age of your child(ren)?

I totally need compatibility for ME. Dating as a single parent is tough. Relationships between partner and children don't always build as you'd like them. But doing some research on the topic, it's a fairly common thing to deal with. Obviously I'm not going to be with someone that is BAD for my children. But I need a partner and companion for me.

You are talking about two completely different things. I have been a single mom for, well, awhile. My personal life has never affected my 'mom' life, nor shall it ever. In my dating I have done I make it VERY clear, you are my mate, these are my children, two totally seperate issues. Of course bounderies MUST be outlined. It takes a special person to date a single parent. I could be in some form of drama with a SO but when my kids, I'm all ass and elbows. Hopefully any SO understands and appreciates my maternal extincts.
