HELP ME!!! My daughter 'loves' a boy..

So my 13-year-old who is going in to the 8th grade tells me today that the boy she has like since the 5th grade told her that he loves her today. And she says to me.. "I think I love him too, he means a lot to me. I can't help to love him like you can't help but to love Norm. I can't help to love you too. "

I am so literally screwed! Thankfully she has a good head on her shoulders.. but still.. Hormones have been shown to overpower brains.. I'm living proof of it!!

Her dad and I are still sticking to our NO DATING UNTIL YOU'RE 16 rule. How do we enforce it? I still have 2 1/2 years left..

Sit her down and just say hey... No dating until your 16 you know the rules. But damn she got you good when she used the " I cant help to love him like you do norm".

No, You know what love really is ( Well kinda we all know Norm =P )
At 13 its just hormones and the thought that a boy is into her

I just tell my kids to wait till they are 28! Im sure though that a time will come where im going to have to have the talk:(

I know....its a hard conversation, especially when you yourself is guilty! I guess honesty is the best policy period!

I'm sticking to the no dating until she's 16 rule for as long as possible. In all honesty, she's liked this guy for YEARS. At least she's been consistent.

my daughter is 8 and my son is 11. So I am on my toes. I have a couple years till the real hard work starts I guess!

my oldest is 12, and she's not dating till she's 16 either.

No works. My ex, and I are very involved with her day to day. Granted, I'm not as in the loop as she is. But we both communicate very well around her development into a teenager.

She had a 'boyfriend' for about 8 hours last year. She got passed a note from a boy (the old check yes, no, maybe kinda letter) SHE CHECKED YES.

We found out, and told her she better uncheck yes pretty damn quick. She wasn't really sure what you were suppose to do when you were bf/gf.. lol

Needless to say, it ended.. they still totally have crushes on each other. She's known him for years, and we know the parents.

bottom line good communication with your daughter, and your ex.

no means no (or your ass is grounded for life)
