Long distance can work if you make it work...it's just easy to get distracted and fuck it up...let me tell you. I'm in a "long distance" relationship right now...but like Evan, we see each other every weekend and talk during the week. It's sort of nice because we are both in school, and during the week we don't have each other as distractions and can actually get stuff done. It's done wonders for my GPA So it's not really a true "long distance relationship" since we see each other on weekends.QTip...I'm sure you know about the other long distance relationship...that was just too long distance and not enough foundation to keep it going...it's important to have a strong foundation if you are forced to be long distance. Generating a relationship out of thin air and expecting everything to work out and have a happy ending while being 6000+ miles away from each other is like putting all your eggs in one basket when you know the basket has a hole in the bottom. |

They work if you want them too. I did it and did whatever i could to take the time to go out and see her .. even if it meant making the 2 hour commute after i get off work at 4, spending the night, and leaving at 5:30 in the morning to make it to work on time the next day all while having to drive over the pass. It was certainly worth it for the most part, (just hurt on the bank account with gas) .. Would i change something about it? yeah, not being so whipped, but i still enjoyed it none the less. |

For me a lot of it has to do with the definition of "long distance". 50 miles? Not bad. 200 miles? Sucky... 3000 miles? If you want to talk about tough, try this one... | |

| Engineer of the Love Boat | I tend to disagree with that, sure when I see my SO we have that instant lust factor from not seeing each other for a while, but I've also shared more about my self and my personality that I normally have a difficult time bringing up when I'm constantly around a person.

I've been in two long distance relationships. The First: we lived 100 miles away and saw each other almost every weekend and on breaks from school. It seemed to work out just fine but after school we moved in together and broke up within a month. I guess technically the long distance part worked just fine... The Second: We were 3000 miles away, and saw each other four times in seven months. Honestly it was the best relationship i've ever been in. We talked every night and i feel like i got to know him better than relationships that weren't long distance. We decided to put our relationship on hold because he is now 7000 miles away and we talk maybe twice a month and it's a hell of a lot harder than it was before. |
