Church. I know it sounds "hmm...", but some of the nicest people that I have the most in common have been from joining a small group at a church that has the same beliefs as I do...on a serious note...

I would be afraid of meeting someone at the gym because I'd think of it as a meat market and that he probably picks up on every other girl..

The grocery store.. I had a guy asking me a ton of questions about cooking oil the other day and even tracking me down on the other side of the store to ask more questions.. It made me feel really awkward.

Work - not getting messed up with that crap!

I know it's probably best not to meet people at bars and such.. but I'd be more receptive to meeting someone at a social function.. bar, dancing, restaurant, auction... just any type of event where I'm there to enjoy myself.

Other times when I'm shopping, working out, etc... that's MY time where I'm trying to accomplish something and don't feel as though I'd be receptive to meeting someone. Retarded maybe but just me.

a bookstore is great for meeting people. i can spent hours there. plus you can see what interests the other person has by what section they're in. i try to stay away from the ones lingering in the self help area.

Wherever you go to be with people who are "like you." For me it's church. Decide what's important to you, and then go where you have a high probability of finding people who will fit your standards.
