I would never date a friend’s Ex, I defiantly consider that off limits. However I have found myself in a situation where it isn’t clear whether or not he is really “off limits.” He recently went on a few dates with an acquaintance of mine (a good friend of a good friend). Things ended with them because she made a few typically female mistakes i.e. being too clingy, making things seem more serious than they are. Now I know she wouldn’t be happy about this, but I’m pretty sure she’d get over it eventually as things were never serious with them, and her and I aren’t that close.
So is he really off-limits?

I guess it’s a little more complicated than just it being a friend of a friend’s Ex. Now that I’m really considering pursuing something with him, I’m more concerned with the situation I am putting my friend in. Although I’m not really friends with the woman who’s ex I’m interested in, she is really good friends, with my really good friend and i don't want to complicate things with any of us.

Again its a friend of a friend.... If your really friend is really your friend, then she will stand behind your decision to try to make him happy. Obviously the other girl didnt

True and good friends are far and few between... its not worth risking that for some guy who will be gone eventually.. unless he's THE ONE..... I try to stay away from dating any of friends of friends of friends past loved ones...

... i lost a dear friend b/c i went "there".. even though it was a friend of a friend

and looking back.. the friendship I couldve built with that friend, would've been lifelong, incredible and beautiful, versus what he turned out to be..;

110%, its not worth the risk of losing a friend.

My friends have been there for me through thick and thin for years. There is no way I would risk years of friendship and trust for a guy that could leave me in a week or two.
